What Is A Coach Anyway?

You’re sitting there curled up on the couch, partly watching your latest Netflix binge, partly scrolling Instagram, mainly looking for a glimmer of hope to make sense of this thing called life. You’ve had a great week at work, your friends took you for sushi to your fave spot midweek, you have a trip planned for the long weekend, and yet you sit here feeling meh. You ask yourself: Is this it? Is this life? Is this as good as it gets? And then you hear a whisper (that’s all too familiar) say: “There’s got to be more.”

You keep scrolling, momentarily inspired by posts, laughing at the memes your bestie sent, and wondering… who could actually help you figure this out? Why does your great life feel only fine? You want peace, clarity, direction, answers.

And the wild part is—mental health awareness is higher than ever. We’re finally talking about our struggles, our stress, our dreams. But oddly enough, all this awareness hasn’t brought more peace, satisfaction, or fulfillment.

In fact, for many it’s done the opposite

The more options we have, the more pressure and confusion we feel. More information, more overwhelm. More freedom, more stuckness.

I once heard the perfect analogy: life today is like buying a box from IKEA, opening it up, and finding a note that says, “This box can build anything you want,” with no instructions.

So if you’re feeling more confused than ever? You’re not wrong. And you’re not alone.

So what now?

Whether you’re brand new to personal development or you’ve been deep in the world of self-help and therapy for years, you might still feel like you’re circling the same questions. You know something needs to shift, but you’re not sure how or where to begin.

If you’re someone who has a “pretty good” life—roof over your head, steady income, good friends, fun plans, maybe even some luxuries like massages or nail days—but you still question it all and can’t shake the feeling that something’s missing… this is for you.

Let’s talk about what it really means to hire a coach.

Why hire a coach (instead of just another therapist or self-help book)?

Traditionally, when life felt off or overwhelming, most people would book a session with a therapist. And therapy absolutely has its place (I still have my therapist on speed dial). But here’s how it was once explained to me:

Therapists help you look back — they analyze the past, identify patterns, label, diagnose.

Coaches help you look forward — they partner with you to create the future you want, free from the limits of your past.

Said simply:

Want to process your past? Hire a therapist.

Want to powerfully create your future? Hire a coach.

What coaching means at Best Life Coaching

I’ve been in the coaching world since 2005. Back then, the title “coach” was specific. Today, it’s a buzzword. The coaching industry is unregulated, which means that “coach” can mean anything from someone who completed a rigorous certification… to someone who read a self-help book and made an Instagram page.

That’s why clarity is key.

Before you hire any coach, be clear on what you want. Ask questions. Know what support you’re truly looking for. This allows you (and the coach) to show up powerfully and create real results.

Here’s how we define it:

A coach is someone who listens deeply, asks powerful questions, and helps you discover your own answers. Coaching isn’t about advice. It’s about uncovering what’s already inside you—your truth, your desires, your next step—and creating the space for you to act on it.

That’s why at Best Life Coaching, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all systems. You’re not here to follow someone else’s path. You’re here to create your own.

Coaching ≠ Mentorship

This matters more than most people realize.

A mentor tells you what worked for them. A coach helps you figure out what works for you.

Mentorship has value—but if you’re following someone else’s formula, you might get their results… but miss the feeling you were really after. I’ve seen this firsthand.

In my first wellness business, I lost over 100 lbs and kept it off. I thought: “If it worked for me, it’ll work for everyone.” Over 1,000 clients across 4 countries followed the exact same plan. You know how many had the same long-term results? Four. Four. That shook me. So I dove deeper. I studied people. I studied transformation. And I realized what I was really chasing wasn’t a number on the scale—it was confidence, peace, and fulfillment. Things that, as it turns out, have nothing to do with jean size.

What makes Best Life Coaching different?

Whether you join us for 1:1 support or enroll in The Best Life Method, you can expect these 4 promises:

Abundant Thinking

We believe anything is possible. You’ll never be told to “be realistic.” If you can dream it, we’re here to help you live it.

Judgment-Free Space

Our job isn’t to fix you. It’s to see you fully. We’re trained to hold space with zero judgment and total support.

Unconditional Presence

This is our magic. In a world where people are distracted 24/7, we bring full presence. You’ll feel it. And once you’ve felt it, you’ll start to expect it everywhere.

Radical Realness

We’re not here to sugarcoat things. We’ll reflect what we hear, ask bold questions, and gently call you out when you’re playing small. That’s how transformation happens.

Our Approach: Health & Life Coaching. At Best Life Coaching, we specialize in two key areas:

Integrative Health Coaching

We help you find health and lifestyle practices that work for you, through a holistic lens.

“Holistic” means we consider the whole picture—your body, your mind, your relationships, your joy.

We don’t just ask what’s on your plate—we ask what’s on your mind and in your heart.

Life Coaching (Lifestyle & Success)

We help you define success in your terms. That means exploring your values, releasing limiting beliefs, building habits that actually feel good, and designing a life that reflects who you really are.

We use the term lifestyle and success coach because we know your habits and your definition of success are both crucial to living your best life.

Why we do both

We chose to integrate health and life coaching because the biggest struggles we see are around health, success, and fulfillment. You can’t feel amazing in your life if you don’t feel great in your body. And you can’t feel healthy if you’re stuck in a life that’s out of alignment.

That’s why we created The Best Life Method—our signature coaching journey designed to help you reconnect to who you are, why you’re here, and how to create a life that feels so good, it becomes your new normal.

If you’ve read this far, you’re likely feeling the pull.
